PRIDE AND PREJUDICE

Few literary romances match the refined satire of Pride and Prejudice. L.A. Theatre Works' stages the still thoroughly modern comedy about the headstrong Elizabeth Bennet and snobbish Mr. Darcy. Celebrate the 200th anniversary of Austen's classic with this one-night-only performance by Jane Carr (TV's The Closer) and Nicholas Hormann (TV's Bones) in the roles of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet.

SHADOWS OF THE REEF

A young boy from a Filipino fishing village has died while working as a diver on a Leviathan fishing trawler, one that uses the controversial Muro-ami style of fishing that has since been outlawed. In this play, a mother is guilt-ridden about her son's death. In her village's Good Friday tradition, a man is elected to portray Christ and be crucified. The mother wants to perform this role as penance for sending her own child to the Muro-ami. This play powerfully addresses child labor laws, religion and environmental issues.
