Styx, Blue Oyster Cult And Mark Farner Play Morris Center, 4/8

Styx_Blue_Oyster_Cult_And_Mark_Farner_Play_Morris_Center_48_20010101

An incredible rock triple-header of STYX, BLUE OYSTER CULT and MARK FARNER will be playing the Morris Performing Arts Center on Friday, April 8 at 7:00pm. Tickets are on sale now, so don't miss your chance to see these stars live and in concert!

STYX started out in a suburban Chicago basement in the early 1970s, the STYX hit song "Lady" received extensive airplay in 1974 on the legendary WLS radio in Chicago. When long time local Niles, Michigan, resident Tommy Shaw joined the band in 1975, STYX reeled off 4 consecutive multi-million selling albums "Crystal Ball," "The Grand Illusion," "Pieces of Eight" and "Cornerstone," and were selling out arenas from coast to coast. STYX, one of the biggest album rock bands of the 1970s, was able to cross over into the pop charts, scoring Top 40 hits such as "Lady," "Come Sail Away," "Lady," "Lorelei," "Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)" "Don't Let It End," "The Best of Times," "Show Me The Way" and "Too Much Time on My Hands."

The 1981 concept album, "Paradise Theatre," marked a new direction for STYX, and yielded the big hit single "Too Much Time On My Hands," for which Tommy Shaw once noted his songwriting was influenced by his time in Niles, Michigan. In 1997 an entire new generation of STYX fans were introduced to the band's music by a humorous television commercial for a car company that used their quirky hit single "Mr. Roboto." STYX music has been featured on television and movies, from TV's South Park to the Adam Sandler movie "Big Daddy," in which Adam's character declares "Styx is America's greatest rock band!"

Legendary Long Island, New York-based "thinking man's hard rock band" BLUE OYSTER CULT released their self titled debut album in January, 1972. Perhaps the most famous skit in the history of "Saturday Night Live" is the one in which BLUE OYSTER CULT is playing their song "Don't Fear The Reaper," and "more cowbell" is the code word. Other top singles include "Burnin' For You" and "Godzilla."

Singer/guitarist/songwriter of Grand Funk Railroad, MARK FARNER started in Flint, Michigan, and took rock radio and concert stages around the USA by storm in 1969. The band recorded such classic rock staples as "We're An American Band," "I'm Your Captain/Closer To Home," "Mean Mistreater," "Bad Time," "Footstompin' Music" and "The Loco-Motion."
